# How to use the tool
You can use this tool to view the flood risk level of various districts (and sub-districts) of each of the available states. The tool helps you quickly identify regions at high risk and provides related data points to help you understand the factors contributing to that risk level.
## Step 1: Selecting a state and time period
* Click the state you wish to explore from the home page to enter the **Analytics Dashboard**.
* Alternatively, use the left-side selection menu dropdown to switch states.
* Use the month selection to view data for a specific time (the latest available month is selected by default).
## Step 2: Overview of risk levels
* Browse risk levels across the state by hovering over districts to see their name and flood risk level.
* * Click a district to zoom in and view
* factors contributing to risk and
* sub-district (block/ward) data.
## Step 3: Exploring indicators
* **Calculated Indicators**: Parent indicators (like Overall Risk or Hazard) are visualised using a **diverging colour scale**, where red indicates the highest risk.
* **Raw Indicators**: Sub-indicators (like rainfall in mm or population) are visualised using a **sequential scale** (lightest to darkest), where darker colours indicate higher numerical values.
## Step 4: Exploring related data points
* Click a district or sub-district
* A detailed data overlay will open on the right side of the screen.
* Scan through the right side overlay to see specific data points
* Select specific data points on the left menu and see how different factors contribute to the regional risk.
## Step 5: Generate Reports to share the data
* Select the desired state and month on the Analytics Dashboard.
* Click **Download Report** on the left-side menu to generate a PDF report.
* This report carries data relevant for DRR decision making, for the selected state and time period.
